Product Details

Jiangsu Liangyi is an ISO 9001-certified nickel-alloy forging manufacturer in Jiangyin, China, producing Monel 400 / UNS N04400 / W.Nr. 2.4360 (NiCu30Fe / Alloy 400) open-die forgings and seamless rolled rings to ASTM B564 / ASME SB-564. Monel 400 is a single-phase nickel-copper solid-solution alloy (63–70% Ni, 28–34% Cu) — its performance comes from chemistry and clean annealing rather than precipitation hardening, and Jiangsu Liangyi controls both in-house.

Why the alloy behaves as it does: with no second phase to sensitise, Monel 400 / 2.4360 welds and heat-treats without intergranular attack risk, and its high nickel content delivers resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking that austenitic stainless steels lack. It is the reference alloy for hydrofluoric-acid (HF) service — corrosion rate below 0.03 mm/year in 70% HF at 20 °C — and for flowing seawater (< 0.025 mm/year). Jiangsu Liangyi advises that it should not be used in oxidising acids (nitric, hot concentrated sulfuric) or wet chlorine, where Inconel 625 or Hastelloy C-276 are correct.

Manufacturing route (10-step, fully traceable): PMI verification of ASTM B564/B164 billet; heating 900–1150 °C in a sulfur-free furnace; open-die forging or ring rolling with controlled reduction for grain-flow continuity; full annealing 870–982 °C (lower end for finer grain); rough machining and CMM check; UT to ASTM A388 plus MT/PT; tensile/yield/elongation/hardness testing per ASTM B564; spectrographic chemistry; third-party inspection and EN 10204-3.1/3.2 certificate; ISPM-15 export packing.

Properties (annealed): tensile 517–620 MPa, yield 172–345 MPa, elongation ≥35%, hardness 65–85 HRB, density 8.80 g/cm³, max service 500 °C, non-magnetic. For sour service the hardness is held ≤35 HRC to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3.

Welding: ERNiCu-7 / ENiCu-7 fillers (AWS A5.14); no preheat below 25 mm, 100–150 °C for heavy sections, interpass ≤150 °C; full anneal or stress relief for pressure-retaining welds. Machining requires sharp carbide tooling and steady feeds because the alloy work-hardens rapidly.

Capability: open-die forgings to ~8,000 kg, seamless rolled rings to 3,000 mm OD, bars/shafts to 6,000 mm.

Grade note: Monel 400, UNS N04400, W.Nr. 2.4360 (NiCu30Fe) and Alloy 400 are the same grade — certified to ASTM B564 or the EN designation as required.

Verified capability: Jiangsu Liangyi supplied 48 Monel 400 wellhead valve bodies to a US oil producer (103 MPa, H₂S service; NACE MR0175 < 35 HRC; TUV 3.2) with zero corrosion in 3 years; and 12 Monel 400 propeller shafts (OD 180 × 4,200 mm) to an Australian shipyard (ABS/DNV; 0.018 mm/year measured) with no pitting after four years.

Lead time: 45 days standard; 60 days fully custom.
