Inconel 725 is an age-hardenable Ni-Cr-Mo-Nb alloy, and its rare combination of Alloy 625-class corrosion resistance with roughly double the strength depends on clean melting and a precise solution-plus-aging cycle — both controlled in-house.

Why the metallurgy matters: the high nickel base resists chloride SCC, the substantial 7–9.5% molybdenum drives pitting and crevice resistance in reducing media, and niobium forms the strengthening precipitates during aging. Because strength comes from heat treatment rather than cold work, it can be imparted to large or non-uniform sections while ductility and toughness stay high — and hardness is held ≤43 HRC to meet NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sour service.

Manufacturing: certified billet is forged at controlled temperature with adequate reduction for uniform grain structure, then solution treated and aged to develop the target properties; CNC machining holds tight tolerances; and full NDT (UT/MT/PT) per ASME/API precedes shipment, with EN 10204-3.1 / 3.2 MTRs.

Properties (age-hardened): tensile ≥965 MPa (140 ksi), yield ≥827 MPa (120 ksi), elongation ≥20%, hardness ≤43 HRC (sour service). Chemistry (typical, wt%): Ni 55–59, Cr 19–22.5, Mo 7.0–9.5, Nb 2.75–4.0, Ti 1.0–1.7, Fe bal.

Applications it is built for: hangers, landing nipples, side-pocket mandrels and polished-bore receptacles in sour gas wells; subsea valve bodies and wellhead components; and high-strength fasteners for seawater service resisting pitting and crevice attack.

Grade note: Inconel 725, UNS N07725 and Alloy 725 are the same grade; it is an oil & gas grade with no standard EN/Werkstoff number — specify UNS N07725.
