Product Details

By using a nitrogen-purged spectrometer and using the attenuated total reflection method (ATR method), this device can measure the far-ultraviolet spectrum of liquids in the far-ultraviolet region (wavelength 145 to 300nm), which was not possible with conventional methods .

  • Features:
  • It is possible to measure the transmission spectrum of liquids with a wavelength of 145 to 300 nm (far ultraviolet region).
  • High resolution and high stability are achieved by adopting a nitrogen-purged spectrometer.

What is Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR)?

This is a method of observing an absorption spectrum using light called an evanescent wave, which slightly seeps out from the surface of a reflective element during total reflection . The feature is that the light penetration depth is very short, about the wavelength.

The absorption coefficient of water in the far-ultraviolet region (145 nm~) is extremely large, ten times stronger than the infrared OH stretching vibration band, and the absorbance exceeds 1 even with a cell length of 100 nm. This device uses the attenuated total reflection method (ATR method),

For the first time in the world , we have made it possible to observe temperature changes in the A ~ ←X ~ transition absorption band of water .

Until now, far-ultraviolet spectroscopy was mostly used for gas phase research, but by using the attenuated total reflection method (ATR method), it can be applied to liquids and solids that have not been measured before . Now possible .
