UHP (Ultra High Power) graphite electrodes with nozzles for electric arc furnaces are mainly used for electric furnace steelmaking. In the process of electric furnace steelmaking, the graphite electrode introduces working current into the furnace. The strong current passes through the gas at the lower end of the electrode to generate arc discharge, and the heat generated by the arc is used for smelting.

Electric arc furnace steelmaking is highly efficient because graphite electrodes have high electrical and thermal conductivity and can quickly transfer heat, making the electric arc furnace smelting process more efficient. In addition, this method is also beneficial to environmental protection, because the amount of waste gas, waste residue and other pollutants generated during the electric arc furnace smelting process is greatly reduced. Compared with the traditional combustion flame smelting method, the electric arc furnace smelting method has higher energy conversion efficiency, thus achieving energy saving.

The diameter of the graphite electrode is selected according to the capacity of the electric furnace. In order to enable the electrode to be used continuously, the electrodes are connected by electrode threaded joints. Graphite electrodes used in steelmaking account for about 70~80% of the total graphite electrode usage.

In addition, graphite electrodes are also used in submerged electric furnaces and resistance furnaces. In submerged thermal electric furnaces, graphite electrodes are mainly used to produce products such as ferroalloys, pure silicon, yellow phosphorus, matte, and calcium carbide. Resistance furnaces include graphitization furnaces, furnaces for melting technical glass and electric furnaces for the production of silicon carbide.

In general, UHP graphite electrodes with nozzles are widely used in electric arc furnaces, which can improve smelting efficiency, reduce environmental pollution, and achieve energy savings. At the same time, graphite electrodes also have good machining characteristics and processing accuracy, making them useful in other fields such as metal processing, electrolytic smelting, chemical production, high-temperature processing, and machinery manufacturing.
