Graphite electrode is mainly made of petroleum coke and needle coke as raw materials, coal asphalt as a binding agent, and is made by calcination, batching, kneading, molding, roasting, graphitization and machining, and is a conductor that releases electric energy in the form of an arc furnace to heat and melt the charge, and can be divided into ordinary power graphite electrode, high power graphite electrode and ultra-high power graphite electrode according to its quality index.
Graphite electrodes include:
(1) Ordinary power graphite electrode. Graphite electrodes with a current density of less than 17A/cm2 are allowed to be used, mainly used in ordinary power electric furnaces for steelmaking, silicon, yellow phosphorus, etc.
(2) High-power graphite electrode. Graphite electrodes with a current density of 18~25A/cm2 are allowed to be used, mainly used in high-power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking.
(4) Ultra-high power graphite electrode. Graphite electrodes with current densities greater than 25A/cm2 are permitted. It is mainly used in ultra-high power steelmaking electric arc furnaces.
