1. Overview
CC-ZrO zirconia foam ceramic filters feature high strength, excellent thermal stability, a large surface area, and high dimensional accuracy. They are suitable for the production of various cast steel parts, effectively removing macro inclusions from molten metal and achieving stable flow through the adsorption of micro inclusions on their large surface area.
2. Key Advantages
• Wide applicability across processes, including sand casting, investment casting, and precision ceramic casting
• Maximum operating temperature of 1700°C, significantly simplifying gating system design
• Unique 3D mesh structure provides excellent flow rectification, ensuring uniform microstructure in the casting
• Efficient filtration of fine non-metallic inclusions, improving machinability
• Enhanced overall mechanical properties such as surface hardness, tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and elongation

6. Gating System Design
To prevent the filter from impeding pouring flow, the front-end area of the filter should be at least 4 to 5 times the smallest cross-sectional area in the gating system.
Recommended cross-sectional area ratio: Direct sprue area : Filter front-end area : Runner area : Ingate area = 1 : 4.5 : 1.1 : 1.2
Multiple filters can be used simultaneously to increase capacity, provided total pouring flow requirements are met.
7. Installation Methods
• At the Mold Sprue: Pre-reserve a filter seat in the sprue. Place filter after mold firing or pre-heat with mold before pouring. Design filter base with 2mm gaps on all sides and a 5mm support lip.
• In a Dedicated Ceramic Pouring Cup: Attach the pouring cup to the casting during shelling. Pour with filter inside the cup.
• Integrated into the Gating System: Pre-fabricate gating system with filter seat. Reserve openings in shell. After shelling, place filter and seal with water glass or silica sol, then cure before pouring.
Control the molten metal pouring temperature at the upper limit of the process range and maximize pouring speed to avoid cold shuts, misruns, and other casting defects.
8. Important Precautions
• Always blow off dust from the zirconia foam filter with compressed air before use.
• Do not exceed the maximum operating temperature of 1700°C during pouring.
• Minimize direct molten metal impact on the filter. If unavoidable, limit pouring height to 300 to 350mm.
9. Packaging & Storage
• Handle and transport with care. Avoid shock, moisture, extrusion, or impact.
• Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. Protect from rain and heavy stacking.
• Packaging: Cartons with internal trays and interlayer pads. Each carton includes packing list and certificate of conformity.
• Shelf Life: 3 years
