Sodium nitrite, an effective corrosion inhibitor,it is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NaNO2. From an industrial perspective, it is the most important nitrite salt.Colorless or yellow crystal. Soluble in water, sodium nitrite has both oxidizing and reducing, mainly oxidation.

Application

Sodium nitrite reacts with oxygen, causing chemical changes on the metal surface and playing the role of passivation. It is often used in neutral corrosive medium, can effectively prevent or slow down the speed of metal corrosion. Used in electroplating industry as inorganic corrosion inhibitor.

Method

Sodium nitrite can be used in different kinds of metal coating post treatment.

Metallic silver: in order to prevent the discoloration of silver coating, sodium nitrite and other corrosion inhibitors will be used in the process of treatment.

Metal copper: copper plated metal is very common, in order to protect the copper plated metal, prevent copper oxidation discoloration, will be used containing sodium nitrite discoloration agent after the coating treatment to prevent discoloration.
