Overview

Grade 304L is a chromium-nickel based austenitic Stainless Steel alloy. This alloy is known to have increased levels of resistance against several chemical compounds such as alkaline solutions, acidic ad neutral solutions. Due to the addition of molybdenum in the chemistry of the alloy, the corrosion resistance property of 304L Stainless Steel Flanges is much higher than that of the stainless steel grade 304. The molybdenum content is what permits Stainless Steel 304L Flanges to be more resistant to corrosion overall, with specific resistance properties against chlorine pitting. Alloy 304L, or as known by manufacturers as marine grade flanges are also found to be more applicable in areas with high or elevated temperatures compared to other stainless steel grades. The ASTM A182 F304L Flanges has more resistant to heat as compared to grade 304. However, most of the properties possessed by grade 304L tend to be similar to many of the same general characteristics as that of stainless steel alloy 304.
