Alloy AK12M2 refers to the aluminum-silicon-copper
system. It has good fluidity and is used for the
manufacture of shaped castings using injection
molding. The high silicon content in the alloy (about
12%) leads to low ductility of the metal. It would be
possible to get rid of such a drawback by heat
treatment, but it is not practiced in relation to
AK12M2.
This material is used in mechanical engineering for
the production of a wide range of products and parts
of automobiles, tractor and other equipment.
