What are hydrosols?
Hydrosols, also known as Flower
Waters or
Hydrolates are produced by
distilling fresh plant materials including
leaves, fruits and flowers. These distilled
aromatic waters have therapeutic properties
similar to essential oils, but are much less
concentrated. Their aromas are often light and
subtle when compared to their essential oil
counterpart. They retain a minute amount of
essential oil compounds (around 0.3 grams/liter)
- particularly the gentler, more hydrophilic
aromatic esters and alcohols - hence are unlikely
to cause skin irritation. Offering unmatched skin
care benefits and mood uplifting aromatherapy
properties; they make amazing single ingredient
perfumes, deodorants, facial toners, air
fresheners, and aromatherapy sprays.
PLEASE NOTE that the hydrosols offered by us are specifically distilled, and are not collected as a co-product or a by-product. The plant's cellular water and many components that are normally lost under pressurized short steam distillations for essential oil, or by using dried material - are what we specifically distill for by using only the fresh plant material right from their origin in the farm.
Our range of Hydrosols, Hydrolats or Floral
Waters are 100% pure and free from
preservatives, alcohol and emulsifiers. These are
the most genuine form of hydrosols (obtained by
steam distillation of the plant parts): no
infusion, no blend of essential oil and water;
and no condensed water. These hydrosols are 3 to
5 times more concentrated when compared to other
hydrosols available in the market and are of
superior quality.
We guarantee a microbiological cleanliness
of our hydrosols thanks to our stainless steel,
glass system and our packaging procedure that
includes the decontamination of all our bottles
and caps with organic alcohol. We systematically
do microbiological testing of all batches and
publish the results on the analysis report for
each batch. All our hydrosols are kept in a low
temperature storage.
How should we store hydrosols?
Ideally, hydrosols should be stored in the
refrigerator. If you don't have room in your
fridge, keep your hydrosols stored in a dark
location that is kept at a cool, consistent
temperature.
What are your criteria for testing
products?
Our Quality Assurance team consisting of highly
qualified chemists and experts adhere to the
strict quality standards used by the global
Essential Oils and Flavor Industry.
These references of comprehensive scientific
information, detail specific physiochemical
properties of all the essential oils. Some of
these important parameters include Refractive
Index, Specific Gravity, Optical Rotation, Flash
Point, Acid Value, Ester Value, Infrared
Absorption, Ultraviolet/Visible Spectroscopy
(UV/Vis) for pigment detection, Solubility,
Colour/Appearance, Taste/Odour, presence of Heavy
Metals, and proportion of Predominant Active
Chemical Components.
Our in-house laboratory is equipped
with the state-of-the-art analytical equipment
allowing us to carry out highly specialized
analyses, such as Gas-Liquid
Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry.
We use these analyses results to ascertain the
quality of our essential oils as well as to
confirm specification sheet reports and
certificates of analysis received from third
party vendors.
