These furnaces are made of horizontal pipes with different diameters and lengths, depending on the tonnage required by the factory, which rotate slowly around the horizontal axis and are insulated with cement or refractory bricks of chamotte, aluminum, or magnesium.

Depending on the function and the metal to be melted, the design of rotary kilns is different. For example, furnaces in zinc ingot smelting plants use open-top, non-conical rotary smelting furnaces to prevent excess oxygen from entering the furnace and to prevent metal oxidation on the melt. In lead smelting and casting plants, lead from Open and conical double-headed furnaces are used.
