Installation Instructions

The sensor is designed for attachment to a plane surface on the intake air passage of motor vehicles. The humidity and temperature sensor probe project into the air stream and are sealed to atmosphere by an O-ring. The sensor must be installed in a location that will not subject it to accumulation of condensedmoisture. In order for the sensor to report the true relative humidity of thecombustion air, it must be located an adequate distance upstream of any ports
where other gases are admitted (such as blow-by, exhaust gas recirculation,gaseous fuel).There is a limited range of orientations that are permitted for positioning the
sensor, with respect to horizontal and with respect to the airflow direction. Thepermitted orientations are shown in the figure below. The drawing on the leftshows that the tip of the sensor should point down with an angle from 89° to 40°
(tip of the sensor should never point up). The view is a section of the tube placed at the horizontal position, and the flow axis is into the page. The drawing on the right shows the angle of the sensor compared to the airflow. The airflow should hit the sensor with an angle between 40° and 89°. So the tip should not point in the same direction as the airflow.

Avoid mounting the sensor where it will be subjected to rapid changes in temperature, as these will adversely affect the metrological performance. The mounting boss for the sensor must be designed and manufactured in accordance
with the specifications provided in the customer drawing to ensure proper sealing at the O-ring and avoid undue difficulty or potential damage during installation.
To ensure integrity of the electrical connection to the system harness, the mating connector must be specified and assembled in accordance with the specifications provided in the customer drawing and by the connector
The installation depth in the inlet air tube must be done in such a manner that the sensor openings are located in the air stream.
