General features

General features: Tree 15-30 m tall, originating in Australia, with trunk usually forked, smooth, coated, by white or gray bark, often striped red, descing on blades or ribbons. Open, ascending or arched branching forming moderate canopy. Grey or reddish branches, pendulums. Juvenile leaves, at first, opposite, oval or broad-lanceolate, usually fused, long acuminated, concolor, pendant, caratious, almost unflavored, 10-23 cm long, with petiole of 1.0-2.5 cm. Inflorescences in simple axillary umbels, supported by flattened stalk of 1-3 cm, with 3-25 white flowers, with beaked buds. Globeous or ovoid fruits, 5-7 mm in diameter, with 3-5 protruding triangular valves (exertas), deiscentes, with small yellowish-brown seeds. Variable species covering several varieties. Very similar to E. tereticornis, being considered by some as a simple geographical breed of this species. It is distinguished mainly by the presence of less robust umbelas.
