DRAGON'S BLOOD

Jernang is a kind of resin. The resin (sap) taken from the clear fruit is known worldwide as dragon blood or dragon's blood (English), drakenbloed (Dutch), sangre de drago (France), sanguis draconis, and other names. This product is produced from several species of rattan from the daemonorops genus.

Resins are usually red. So far, it has been traded and used as coloring agents, incense and traditional medicine. Jernang is mostly produced from Sumatra, including the regions of Aceh and Kalimantan. In Aceh, clear plants are widely developed in Aceh Besar, West Aceh, Bener Meriah, Aceh Tengah, Bireuen, Southeast Aceh and almost all other Aceh regions.

Clear fruit sap is targeted by the world to be used as coloring agents, medicines, incense, and perfume. Therefore, clear sap is believed to have never been devoid of world market demand. These types of non-timber forest products, the sap contain compounds Dracoresen, Draco Resinolanol and Draco Alban.
