Aceh Province which is located at the far end of Sumatra island
geographically geographically the western region is surrounded by
the Malacca Strait, the Indian Ocean and its Northern Territory
bordering the Bengal Strait. The coastal area has a coastline of
1,660 km with an area of 295,370 km² consisting of territorial
sea (territorial waters and archipelagic waters) 56,563 km² and
Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) 238,807 km², besides being limited
by the coast of Aceh the geographical area also consists of the
mountains. This very strategic condition if managed properly has
great potential for the development of aquaculture activities in
the fisheries sector
One of the fisheries potentials in Aceh is Live mud Crab which is
one of the coastal fishery commodities that has important
economic value. The decline in the population of Live mud Crabs
is caused by community activities, one of which is the
large-scale capture of Live mud Crabs and aquaculture in
ponds.
