We call it mkpuru-ose in Igbo language, meaning pepper seed, due to its small size. On a general note, dry pepper or chilli is its common name, although some calls it Piri Piri. It has a heat rating of 75,000 Scoville units on average. It is hot, but not as hot as scotch bonnets and habanero peppers
