Cenospheres are hollow glass-ceramic aluminosilicate microspheres formed as part of fly ash during coal combustion at thermal power plants. They accumulate in the form of floating sludge in special pits. They are hollow silicate balls of almost perfect shape with a smooth surface, with a diameter of 10 to 500 microns (µm). Cenospheres are a good filler in the production of products from plastics, gypsum, ceramics, light cements, paints, adhesives, etc. Products with their addition have increased wear resistance, lightness, are not subject to wear, high thermal insulation properties and low cost.
