This species can be found in brekish water and nowadays it is widely cultivated in ponds in some Indonesia waters such as South Sulawesi (Bone, Maros, Jeneponto, Takalar, Luwu, East luwu), West Lombok , the northern coast of java island (Serang, Tanggerang, Bekasi, Pemalang, Brebes), East Kalimantan ( Balikpapan ) . Physically, Gracilaria sp has thallus with lenght of 20 ­30 cm and diameter between 2 to 3 mm
