In recent years, naturally or chemically synthesized dietary supplements are widely used in the treatment and prevention of diseases. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and glucosamine (GA) with preparations in combination with MSM are also commonly used for this purpose (Brien et al., 2008; Felson et al., 2000).

GA and CS are suggested to be effective for osteoarthritis of the knee or hip when used alone or in combination (Richy et al., 2003; McAlindon et al., 2000; Towheed et al., 2005).

The use of MSM, CS and GA as the most common dual and triple dietary supplement in the treatment of osteoarthritis disease, characterized by a chronic inflammatory picture in which blood pro-inflammatory mediators progress at high levels in blood (Stuber et al., 2011; Black and et al., 2009) suggest that it may be very important to clarify the effects of these three compounds on the apoptotic behavior of macrophages. Combined use appears to be a maximal effect.
