Pellet fuels (or biomass pellets) are biofuels made from compressed organic matter or biomass. Pellet fuel is a renewable, clean-burning and cost-effective alternative energy source for heat and power generation.
That’s because of the high energy density per kilogram of pellets. Which means higher amount of energy that can be stored in a given amount of a material compared to wood chips and other biomass. By compressing sawmill and biomass residues into a pellet, biomass becomes significantly more energy dense. Wood pellets can also have very low moisture content, giving them a high combustion efficiency – an important feature in heat and power generation.
