Product Details

Calcium chloride is an ionic compound of calcium and chlorine. It is highly soluble in water and it is deliquescent. It is a salt that is solid at room temperature, and it behaves as a typical ionic halide. It has several common applications such as brine for refrigeration plants, ice and dust control on roads, and in cement. It can be produced directly from limestone, but large amounts are also produced as a by-product of the Solvay process. Because of its hygroscopic nature, it must be kept in tightly-sealed containers.

Applications

Flake calcium chloride 74% manufacturer

1. Deicing and snow melting agent: Calcium chloride is commonly utilized on highway, road, expressway, parking lot, seaport, airport, golf courses, sidewalks and entryways.

2. Drying ingredient: The hygroscopic properties (ability to attract water) of calcium chloride make it an effective desiccant for the removal of water from gas and liquid hydrocarbon streams such as natural gas, propane, kerosene, diesel fuel, Nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride and sulfur dioxide.

3. Drilling fluid additive: Onshore and offshore oil and gas producers rely on brine fluids containing calcium chloride for all types of drilling and completion applications. These fluids are used in oilfield completion and workover operations to reduce water activity and create osmotic forces to prevent absorption of water by shales. The divalent calcium ion inhibits clay swelling, dispersion and migration.

4. Dehydration agent: Producing alcohol, ester, aether and crylic acid.

5. Construction: Calcium chloride is a preferred additive for accelerating cement hydration and reducing set time for concrete applications, particularly in colder weather. Calcium chloride can also improve mix workability, improve strength of air-entrained concrete, and reduce bleeding by enabling earlier final finishing.

6. Roads Improvement: Dust control of roads and coal mine. Road base stabilization, also known as gravel stabilization, calcium chloride rehabilitates and extends the life of unpaved roads. Full-depth reclamation, use of calcium chloride to stabilize the reclaimed gravel mixture creates a stronger base and increases the life of the repaved road.

7. Agriculture: Calcium chloride products are used as a plant nutrient in pre-harvest treatments of crop foliage, fruits and vegetables. Food grade calcium chloride products are used in post-harvest treatments of fruits and vegetables to help preserve freshness, maintain firmness and prevent certain diseases and decay.

8. Water treatment: Calcium chloride is used in waste water treatment applications to remove undesired impurities. Often used to harden swimming pool water, adding calcium chloride to marine aquariums can increase the content of bioavailable calcium in water.

9. Food grade: Food grade calcium chloride products are commonly used in brines during cucumber fermentation and pickle storage to maintain firmness and enhance flavor. Pasteurized milk lost a lot of calcium during processing, and adding a small amount of calcium chloride can help coagulate. Calcium chloride is also an important additive in cheese. Additional food processing applications include meat tenderization, as a refrigerant in the manufacture of ice cream and frozen foods, reducing oil consumption and darkening of French fries and more.

10. Industrial applications: Calcium chloride is used as a raw material in industrial applications and manufacturing processes. Some applications include: solidifying agent in paint production, coagulant in the manufacture of rubber, chloridizing agent and additive in metallurgy, additive in the paper industry including deinking of recycled paper, dye production and printing, coagulant for sodium alginate in the chemical industry, and as a refrigeration aid.Solutions of calcium chloride are used in tractor and other off-road tires to provide ballast, improve traction and reduce wear and tear on tires and machinery. It can also be used in medical injection and other fields.
