Isatis Root is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine that is derived from the roots of different plants. It is divided into two types: northern isatis and southern isatis. Northern Isatis is derived from the roots of cruciferous plants, such as Isatis tinctoria L. and Indigotica Fort. Southern Isatis comes from the rhizome and root of Baphicacanthus cusia (Nees) Brem.
