Paraffin
Wax
Paraffin is a mixture of
hydrocarbons extracted from some distillate of petroleum,
shale oil or other asphaltic mineral oil. It is mainly
composed of solid paraffins, odorless and tasteless,
white or pale yellow translucent solids. Paraffin is a
mixture of positive chain saturated alkanes of different
molecular weights, which can be expressed by the general
formula
CnH2n+2.
According to the Chemicalbook physical state of
paraffin, it can be divided into liquid paraffin, solid
paraffin and microcrystalline wax.
Paraffin has many advantages, such as low price, wide
sources, colorless and tasteless, stable physical and
chemical properties, large latent heat of phase change,
etc., so it is widely used in medicine, packaging,
construction, military camouflage, industry and
agriculture, etc. In recent years, there are a lot of
studies on composite phase change energy storage
materials.
