Beryllium copper is also called as copper beryllium (CuBe), beryllium bronze or spring copper. Beryllium copper combines high strength (to 1,400 MPa) with non-magnetic and non-sparking qualities. It has good metalworking, forming and machining properties. It has many specialized applications in tools for hazardous environments, musical instruments, precision measurement devices, bullets, and aerospace. Beryllium alloys present a toxic inhalation hazard during manufacturing.

The commercial grades of beryllium copper contain 0.4 to 3.0 percent beryllium. The small ratio of beryllium to copper creates a family of high copper alloys with strength as high as alloy steel. The first of the two families, C17200 and C17300, includes high strength with moderate conductivity. And the second family, C17500 and C17510, offers high conductivity with moderate strength.
The principle characters of these beryllium alloys are their outstanding response to precipitation-hardening treatment, superior thermal conductivity and resistance to stress relaxation.
