Clinical Application:

Serum cholyglycine (CG) is one of the choleric acids, which is a product of cholesterol metabolism in liver cells. Under normal circumstances, the CG concentration of normal adults stabilized at a low level whether on an empty stomach or after a meal. When liver cells are damaged, the ability of liver cells to absorb CG decreases, resulting in increased CG content in blood. When bile stasis occurs, hepatic excretion of cholic acid is impaired, and the CG content in reflux blood circulation is increased, which also increases the CG content in blood. Therefore, the determination of serum cholyglycine acid (SCG) is one of the sensitive indicators to evaluate the function of hepatocytes and the circulation function of hepatobiliary substances.
