Physicochemical Properties

1.  Appearance:White or light yellowish fiber powder or white powder with characteristics of odorless, tasteless and non-toxic

2.  Solubility:

-Soluble in cold or hot water to form a gel, the solution is neutral or slightly alkaline.

- Insoluble in ethanol, ethyl ether, isopropyl alcohol, acetone and other organic solvents.

- Soluble in ethanol or acetone solution of 60% moisture..

-Physical Property:  Hygroscopicity and stability to heat and light.

- Viscosity: Viscosity decreases with temperature increase.

–Solution PH value:

Stable when solution PH value arranged 2 to 10;

Solid precipitates when solution PH less than 2;

Viscosity reduce when solution PH higher than 10;

3.   Color-change Temperature: 227℃

4.   Carbonization Temperature: 252℃

5.   Surface Tension: 71 mn/n in 2% aqueous solution.

Main Application

Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (hereinafter refer to as “CMC”), also named as the “Industrial MSG”,  is one of cellulose ether which has the largest output capacity, widest application and most convenient for usage.

CMC is physiological harmless and has the characteristics of high viscosity to form colloidal solution with the properties of adhesiving, thickening, flowing, emulsifying, sizing, water retention, colloids protection, film-forming, acid and salt resistance, suspending, etc.   
For the above reason, CMC is widely used in the industry of food, pharmaceutical, daily chemical, oil drilling, papermaking, textile, construction and others.

1. Oil and gas drilling, dug wells and other projects.

-The mud that contains CMC can form the filter cake which can make the thin and hard well wall with low permeability to reduce the water loss.

- Adding CMC into the mud, the rig can get low gel initial. Mud is easy to release gas and debris be quickly abandoned in the wallow.

-As other suspended dispersoid, the drilling mud has a certain period of existence. After added CMC, the mud stability can be improved and existence period can be extended.

- The mud that contains CMC can rarely affected by mold. So No necessity is required to keep the PH at high value or use preservative.

-The treatment agent that contains CMC as drilling flushing fluid can resist the pollution caused by various kinds of soluble salts.

-The mud that contains CMC has a good stability. The water loss can be reduced even the temperature over 150 ℃.

- CMC adoption method and suitability in the oil drilling industry

-- High viscosity& high substitution CMC is suitable for the low density mud.

-- Low viscosity& high substitution CMC is suitable for the high density mud.

--CMC should be adopted according to different types of mud, and the location and the depth of well.

2. Textile, printing and dyeing industry

-Used as sizing agent to be applied to light gauze of cotton, silk and wool , chemical fiber, blended and other materials.

-Used as dirt adsorbent when added into synthetic detergent.

3. Daily chemical industry

-The aqueous and glycerin solution of CMC can be used as gum base of toothpaste.

4. Pharmaceutical industry

- Used as thickener and emulsifier.

5. Mineral separation industry

- Used in floating separation after dissolved to form viscosity. separation when it increased its viscosity.

6. Ceramic industry
-Used as the adhesives, plasticizers, suspending agent and fixing agent of the glaze in the ceramic industry.

7. Construction industry

-Used to improve water retention and strength.

8. Food industry

- For its high degree of substitution, CMC is used as thickening agent in ice cream, can, quick cooking noodles and as foam stabilizer in beer.

- Used as thickener and binder in the production processing of jam, syrup, fruit syrup, dessert, ice cream drink, etc.

9. Pharmaceutical industry

- Use proper viscosity CMC as binder, disintegrating agent and suspending aid agent of tablet.

Packing, storage& transportation precautions

1. Packing:

- Inner polyethylene film bag and outer plastic coated triad compound bag or paper tube.

- 25Kg each bag;

2.  Storage& Transportation:

-No damage during the transportation.

-Protect from humidity, rain, sunlight, damp and wet.

-Put in dry and ventilated place During storage.

- Remainder must be promptly sealed and packed to prohibit from wet.
