Alloy 17-4PH is martensitic stainless steel hardening a mixture of chromium, nickel and copper with an addition of niobium. 17-4PH combines high strength and hardness with good resistance to corrosion.

Resistance of alloy 17-4PH to corrosion in most environments is similar to stainless steel 304 and usually is better than of 400-series stainless steel. It is used in those environments where a combination of moderate resistance to corrosion and especially high strength is required.

Stainless steel 17-4PH is the one, which is used the most widely of all quenched stainless steels. A valuable combination of its properties provides engineers the possibility to improve reliability of their products and to simplify manufacturing process and very frequently to reduce costs. This valuable alloy is widely used in the industries of aviation, chemistry, petrochemicals, food processing, paper and metal processing.

Alloy 17-4PH can be easily welded and processed by using the standard manufacturing practice. It is magnetic.
