Comparison between Permanent Magnetic Alternator and other alternators (AVR alternator and inverter alternator)
Ⅰ. Compared with AVR alternator
Permanent magnetic alternator is made up of rare-earth materials which is filled into rotator. It is brushless and has no AVR. It is shorter, lighter and has a higher efficiency(95-97%) than normal AVR alternator(78-83%).
Permanent magnetic alternator can make the most use of engine. For instance, engine net output is 10kw, with normal AVR alternator, genset output is 10kw*0.78=7.8kw, with Permanent magnetic alternator, genset output is 10kw*0.95=9.5kw.
So for the same genset output, we can choose a smaller output engine with permanent magnetic alternator. On the one hand, genset is smaller and lighter , and we can save logistics fees. On the other hands, we can save fuel costs with smaller out engine.
Ⅱ. Compared with inverter alternator
Inverter has many electronic parts, and high, low temperature or moisture will shorten its operation life. Once inverter is something wrong, it can’t be repaired and can only be replaced for a new one. Permanent magnetic alternator can endure high or low temperature and run normally under moist conditions.
The power range of inverter alternator is limited. Currently it is from 800W to 10KW.
Voltage and frequency of inverter is fixed. Once the load is a little higher than inverter output, the inverter genset will shut down. Permanent magnetic alternator can start a high-load electrical equipment with a low voltage. When the electrical equipment is started successfully,the voltage will rise normally.
