Quality Control

The objective is to identify and rectify defects or deviations from the quality standards at various stages of production. Here's a typical quality control process in clothing manufacturing companies:

Raw Material Inspection:

The quality control process often begins with the inspection of raw materials such as fabrics, buttons, zippers, threads, etc. Raw materials are checked for compliance with specifications, color accuracy, and any visible defects.

Cutting Stage:

After cutting the fabric based on patterns, pieces are inspected for correct dimensions and any fabric flaws. Precision in cutting is crucial to ensure that each garment piece is uniform.

Sewing and Assembly:

During the sewing process, each garment is assembled according to the design specifications. Stitching quality, seam strength, and alignment are checked. Garments may be measured to ensure they meet size specifications.

Quality Inspection Stations:

Inspection stations are set up at different stages of production where trained inspectors examine garments for defects. Common defects include stitching issues, fabric flaws, incorrect labels, and sizing discrepancies.

Pressing/Ironing:

Pressing garments is done to give them a finished and polished appearance. Inspectors check for any fabric damage or unwanted creases caused during pressing.

Final Inspection:

Completed garments undergo a thorough final inspection before packaging. This inspection covers overall appearance, stitching, labeling, sizing, and any other quality parameters specified by the company.

Random Sampling:

In addition to inspections at specific stages, random sampling is often performed to ensure the overall quality of the production batch. Random samples are chosen and thoroughly inspected to identify any systemic issues in the production process.

Testing:

Garments may undergo testing for specific qualities, such as colorfastness, shrinkage, and durability. Testing may be done in-house or through third-party laboratories.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Records of inspections, tests, and any defects found are maintained. This documentation is useful for tracking trends, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Corrective Actions:

If defects are found, corrective actions are taken to rectify the issues. This may involve reworking, repairing, or discarding defective items.
