Quality Control

The QC process typically includes the following steps:

-  Define quality standards. The first step is to define the quality standards that the product or service must meet. These standards can be based on customer requirements, industry standards, or internal company standards.

-  Identify and measure critical quality characteristics (CQCs). CQCs are the characteristics of a product or service that have the greatest impact on customer satisfaction. Once the CQCs have been identified, they must be measured to ensure that they meet the quality standards.

-  Establish control points. Control points are points in the production or service process where CQCs are measured. Control points can be located at the beginning of the process, during the process, or at the end of the process.

-  Develop and implement control procedures. Control procedures are the steps that are taken at each control point to measure and control the CQCs. Control procedures may involve inspection, testing, and statistical process control (SPC).

-  Monitor the control process. The QC process must be monitored to ensure that it is effective. This involves collecting and analyzing data from the control points. If the data shows that the control process is not effective, corrective action must be taken.

-  Take corrective action. If a defect is found, corrective action must be taken to prevent the defect from recurring. Corrective action may involve adjusting the production or service process, retraining employees, or changing the design of the product or service.

The QC process is an ongoing process. It is important to regularly review the QC process to ensure that it is effective and that it meets the changing needs of the business
