The Story Of GlassIt was believed that glass was discovered in 50 BC by Roman seamen who docked along the shores of the Eastern Mediterranean coast. As they set up camp along the seaside, they placed lumps of soda from their ship to support their cooking-pots.When the soda became hot and fused with the sand on the beach, streams of an unknown liquid flowed on the sandy beach. The next morning, they found beautiful, hardened and transparent streaks where the liquid had flowed. That was the origin of glass. Since then, glass has intrigued and impressed people of all stages with its versatility and magical beauty. There was even a time when glass was considered a precious item that could only be afforded by the rich and famous. Skilled glass-blowers in Murano, an island off Italy, used to be so highly prized that they were forbidden to leave, for fear they would take their craft with them.Glass-blowing revolutionised glass production at the end of the 1st century BC, allowing mass production of glassware. Utilising mainly Iwaki Pyrex borosilicate glass, a comprehensive range of glassware items such as volumetric and boiling flasks, measuring cylinders, glass reactors, glass formers and interchangeable joints are produced.Well-equipped with Lathe Machines, Annealing Lehrs, Furnaces and a team of excellent glassblowers, batch controllers, experienced management staff, Duraglas is able to achieve product excellence.Duraglas Sdn Bhd owns a Glass-Blowing plant located at the Kepong Entrepeneurs Park, a bustling suburban area of Kuala Lumpur. As a key industry player, we fulfill a significant role in the advancement of glass technology for the purposes of scientific research and laboratory usage in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region.Our CommitmentAt the helm of Duraglas Sdn Bhd is Stanly Tee, who has extensive knowledge in glassblowing and glass manufacturing. Stanly was first introduced to the world of glass in 1997 when he visited a glass-blowing factory in Europe. Fascinated and intrigued by how molten liquid would be moulded into hard, transparent material with myriad uses, he spent weeks in Germany to master the art of glass-blowing.Today, Stanly heads a team of ten proficient glass-blowers who are capable of carrying out assignments in all production lines. Human resources being an important asset, the company continues to motivate and enhance the skills of the staff to meet customer satisfaction.
