Alis was established in 1979 by the Rinaldi family, natives of the Modena area, who created a large industrial group during the decades after the Second World War. Apart from its business successes, the Rinaldi family has always had a passionate enthusiasm for one of its home areas traditional products: Modena Balsamic Vinegar. For generations, the Rinaldis have been proud owners of a fine vinegar loft with a set of choice wood barrels dating back to the XVI and XVII Centuries, still in use today for the making of Traditional Modena Balsamic Vinegar. Over the years, Alis has drawn on its sales organisation and love of traditional Italian foods to grow its knowledge and expertise on the export markets. Alis now has a wide range of products, including Modena Traditional Balsamic Vinegar PDO, Modena Balsamic Vinegar PGI, wine vinegar, single wine vinegar, spiced wine vinegars, condiments and dressings such as the well known, versatile Cream of Balsamic Vinegar, white balsamic vinegar condiment and spray condiments, 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, a selection of choice regional PDO extra virgin olive oils, a line of excellent extra virgin olive oils containing spices and citrus fruits, a wide selection of dried and grilled vegetables in oil and vinegar, sauces and pesto from the Italian tradition, traditional regional sauces, a selection of durum wheat, egg and special pasta from Italys best traditional producers, a line of choice salts and spices, single flower and thousand-flower honey, 100% Italian fruit jams, fruit and vegetable jellies, fruit pickles, confectionery, soft drinks and mineral water, canned fish, canned tomatoes and other tomato products, a choice selection of coffee, wine and beer and many other products, all sourced from Italys best food and wine producers and those from the local area. Today Alis is a dynamic, export-oriented company, particularly aware of the need to maintain its market and constantly develop and offer new products; so far our specialities are imported to 109 countries, with hundreds of customers who place "Casa Rinaldi" products in their supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and coffee shops. It has also established two importation and distribution companies in Russia and Ukraine. The Alis sales organisation is supported by a large operational and logistics side, with a recently constructed warehouse 2010) more than 6000 m2 in area and 15 metres high, with an adjoining 500 m2 of sales offices and showrooms, built to the latest earthquake-resistant standards, using modern, innovative, recyclable materials including high-density polycarbonate, with a view to saving energy and protecting the environment. The warehouse also has 1509 photovoltaic panels for generating electricity, capable of preventing the atmospheric emission of the equivalent of 253,700 kg of CO2 every year. The companys gradual entry onto the fresh foods market during the last few years, in response to the international clienteles considerable interest in traditional items such as Parmesan cheese, PDO cured ham, cold cuts and fish products, has led to the construction inside the new warehouse of a latest-generation cold storage area, capable of providing temperature-controlled, refrigerated and frozen food storage. Sales of these foods are constantly increasing and Alis is working with more and more Italian producers as exports extend to new countries. 2010 was a year of major investments for Alis, including the purchase of a production facility of about 2000 m2 with 3 bottling lines in Tuscany (Certaldo, near Florence), with its own product range and clientele (mainly on the export market), which supplies a large proportion of the oils, dressings and spices Alis distributes. Alis thus confirms its status as a constantly growing company, true to its Modena roots, with the main mission of promoting the best Italian food and wine tradition throughout the world.
