We are trying to create a bistable magnetic rod in the Wiegand style of US Patent 3,820,090 .
Can the vicalloy rod be formed into a soft core and hard shell, like the Wiegand wire, only much bigger for a larger magnetic switching field?
The patent explains the construction of the wire, which should be applicable to a rod of a few centimeters in diameter we hope :
