Purchase Relays in Bulk at TradeWheel
A circuit board is a piece of art that consists of various elements. Every element has its uniqueness, its own role. And they combine and synchronize to create magic through which an electrical item operates.
The circuit consists of resistors that resist current. Capacitors - which store the charges. Inductors - to vary the flow of current, Transformers - maintaining the voltage levels, IC or Integrated Circuits - which are modified as per design specification, and relays playing a role in switching.
Relays use electronics or electromechanical fundamentals for switching. As voltage and current levels are very important in a circuit, relays play a vital role in controlling high voltages through low-level signals.
Contractors are very similar to relays but the only difference is relays deals in low voltages whereas contactors deal in high voltages and current.
Working of a Relay
A relay has basically 2 main positions. Normally Open (N-O) and Normally Closed (N-C). A relay consists of a coil and switches. When current passes through the coil, the coil is energized and then the relay enters into an ‘Open’ or ‘Close’ position.
It is the low-level current signal that is operating the relay and through switching the relay is operating on an entirely new set of circuitry.
Relay has another usage. It is used for protection as well. Because relays can separate the entire circuit when high current or a voltage surge is experienced.
Types of Relays
There are different kinds of relays that serve different purposes.
- Electromagnetic Relay (Further divided into AC and DC Relay)
- Attraction type Electromagnetic relay
- Induction type relays
- Solid state relays
- Hybrid relay
- Solid state relay
- Reed relay
