Inconel 625 is a non-magnetic, oxidation-resistant, nickel-based superalloy. It has the best combination of high strength, high temperature and corrosion resistance of the Inconel family of alloys. Inconel 625 was developed in the 1960s to create a material that could be used in steam pipes and pipes. The solid solution of molybdenum and niobium allows it to operate in temperatures as low as 2000°F (1093°C). ) has excellent strength and toughness in this temperature range. Nickel and chromium provide resistance to oxidizing environments. Nickel and molybdenum provide resistance to non-oxidizing atmospheres. Molybdenum prevents pitting and crevice corrosion. Niobium increases alloy stability during welding to prevent sensitization. Alloy 625 is resistant to a variety of corrosive environments and hardly corrodes in alkaline environments.
