Latex Examination Gloves
1.Clean your hands first before putting gloves on.Putting a glove
over contaminated skin can trap the contaminant against the skin,
which can lead to irritation and dermatitis. Depengding on the
hazard, it may be necessary to use bleach or some other
disinfectant prior to and after using the gloves if biological
contamination is susppected.
2.Wash and dry your hands first. Clean the nail beds, too. Use a
PH-neutral soap. Lotion soaps sometimes leave behind a residue
that can irritate and cause dermatitis when gloves occlude hands.
Waterless hand-cleaners often cotain solvents that may dry and
irritate the hands. Lotions that are petrolatum based can
adversely affect the integrity of latex gloves.
