In the
smelting process of iron and steel products, the
smelting loss of carbon in molten iron is often
increased due to the long smelting time, holding time,
overheating time and other factors, resulting in the
reduction of carbon content in molten iron, resulting
in the carbon content in molten iron not reaching the
expected theoretical value of refining.
Carbonaceous substances added to
make up for the carbon content burned out in the
process of steel smelting are called
carburizers.
There
are many kinds of raw materials and production
processes of carburizers, including wood carbon, coal
carbon, coke, graphite, etc., among which there are
many small types under various classifications. High
quality carburizing agent generally refers to the
carburizing agent that has been graphitized. Under
high temperature conditions, the arrangement of
carbon atoms takes on the microscopic form of
graphite, so it is called
graphitization.
